Smooth T 8.2

Smooth T has got a similar facelift like Smooth C. At this opportunity general improvements of the user interface have been made and the technical content was enriched. Here is the list of major changes:

  • Standard window size 768*1024 pixel
  • Easier to recognize buttons with text, like in GasTurb 11
  • Four picture view is standard, the individual graphs are resizable for better accuracy
  • Lines of constant blade jet-speed velocity ratio help when selecting an adequate beta line grid.
  • New features for adapting a map to data known from a cycle program or from a computer deck:
    • Improved presentation of the cycle data in many graphics
    • View the deviation of the given data from the map values in a special graphic
    • Adapt the turbine exit swirl to given data
  • Option to assign a nozzle guide vane throat Mach number, flow and work coefficients to a map reference point
    • The new plot with throat Mach number as function of turbine pressure ratio allows checking the corrected flow values: is there somewhere unintentionally sonic flow implied?
  • Loss characteristic 1 employs now new x-axis values. The typical shape of this form of loss characteristic is linear which makes smoothing efficiency lines easy.
  • Rigorous calculation of the flow and work coefficients.
    • In earlier versions of Smooth T the turbine inlet velocity was assumed to be proportional to the corrected mass flow which is only true for low Mach numbers.
    • All figures employing flow or work coefficient are now valid over the full range
  • An estimate for speed line N=0 may be used as a guide for the extrapolation to low pressure ratio values
  • Revised editor for measured data input
  • Enhanced help system and manual with more turbine physics background

... and of course there are some bug fixes.
