The program Smooth C produces compressor maps with the same number of points on each speed line. A net of equally spaced auxiliary coordinates called beta lines is used in the map smoothing process. The beta lines are crossing the speed lines at unique crosspoints and avoid thus ambiguity in map reading.
In Smooth C the beta lines are parabolas. Note that straight lines are also parabolas - only special ones! Straight beta lines are equivalent to the socalled m-lines used by some gas turbine performance programs.
The program makes a proposal for the auxiliary coordinates. The lower line is for beta=0, the upper line is for beta=1. Both parabolas are defined by three points each marked as squares. You can modify the position and the shape of the parabolas by moving the squares around with the mouse: |
