Efficiency can be shown as a function of mass flow or pressure ratio. There are vertical lines on the graph: the beta lines. Mass flow and pressure ratio for a given beta is that from the crosspoint of the beta line with the speed line. Alternatively one can plot the specific work H/T over the mass flow or over the pressure ratio P/P.

The shape of the efficiency lines can be checked with many cross plots. Especially useful is the check with the loss characteristics that show the losses over meaningful parameters.

With a big screen one can see four graphics simultaneously while working with efficiency:
